The Chronicle Herald: Dairy Queen® to Double its Presence in the Halifax Area
With the help of local franchisees, the brand is bringing its DQ Grill & Chill Concept to new communities in Canada.

Since he was a high school student, Dan Anderson has been loyal to the Dairy Queen® brand. From flipping burgers when he first started to owning his own locations, Anderson has seen all facets of what the brand has to offer.

“I started as a kid in Grade 9 . . . and I’ve never had another job,” he told The Chronicle Herald.

Now, Dan and his wife Martha's restaurant in Dartmouth is the chain’s top DQ Grill & Chill® location in Nova Scotia and the couple is building on that momentum.

According to The Chronicle Herald, they are the first Dairy Queen franchisees to get on board with Dairy Queen Canada’s plans to double the number of the chain’s restaurants in the Halifax area in the next several years.

Ontario-based Dairy Queen Canada has plans to increase its presence throughout the Atlantic Canada region in upcoming years.

“What we’d like to see in Atlantic Canada is 15-20 new locations in the next five years,” said Dairy Queen Canada director of franchise development Chris Falle.
