Dave and Rich Van Buskirk are involved with their district's Career and Technical Education Coordinator to give students career opportunities.
With the help of the local Rutherford County School District, Dairy Queen® franchisees Dave and Rich Van Buskirk have created more than just a job opportunity for local students, but an educational experience.
According to a recent article in the Murfreesboro Post, the local business owners got involved with the Career and Technical Education Coordinator at the district to use the CTE program to recruit employees to work at their DQ Grill & Chill® locations.
"We teach work based learning," said Career and Technical Education Coordinator Tyra Pilgrim. "We teach students how to dress, how to tie a tie, to be on time, not to use cell phones at work."
And it works.
"We have high standards and expectations," Van Buskirk told the Post. "And a high percentage of these students get promoted."
